Year 2049 recently hit its 4th anniversary in September and it made me pause, reflect, and envision where I wanted to take it next.
If you’ve followed the journey since the beginning, you’ll know it started off as a comic series set in the future. The idea was to imagine different versions of the near future based on events from today.
This newsletter then slowly transitioned from a creative imagination exercise towards accessible explainers of AI and other emerging technologies using hand-drawn visuals. It brings me extreme joy to see all the impact my work is having in helping people be less anxious about AI and be equipped with the knowledge and facts they need to make decisions in their life.
I realized that a newsletter alone isn’t the most effective way of learning since people join at different times and have trouble going through the archives to find what they need. So…
I’m building the AI education library you’ve been asking for!
Over the past year, many of you have asked me if there was a way to watch my videos while you’re at work or on your laptop because watching me on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube isn’t the best way to focus if you’re looking to learn something deeply.
I’ve been working hard on it over the past couple of months, which is why I haven’t sent out this newsletter since late October. It’s far from done but it’s good enough to get some initial feedback!
So, I’m inviting you to the private beta. You’ll also receive a separate email with an invitation.

What does this mean for Year 2049?
Don’t worry, Year 2049 will stay alive until 2049! I’m pausing this newsletter (hosted on Substack) until January. My plan is to go back to the original format and use this as a space to imagine the future with comics and have thoughtful conversations. You’re going to love it.
